Looking to the future with Year 12
The programme to support our Year 12 students in deciding on their future began early in March.
On 6th March Jane Marshall with experience from both Imperial College, London and the London School of Economics launched the programme with her talk on the benefits of university. A week later the Next Steps Evening for Year 12 students and parents took a wider look at the options after school. We were delighted that Janet Rowson, Associate Head, Degree Apprenticeships at the University of West London returned to Gumley to discuss apprenticeship opportunities at degree level and the benefits they offer whilst Hazel Jessop, Schools and Colleges Liaison Manager, Royal Holloway, University of London spoke about the university only option and student finance. Caitlin Hogan – alumna of Gumley and now in the Civil Service – returned to explain her reasons for applying to the Civil Service Fast Track Apprenticeship and her experience so far.
In June Year 12 will continue the process with a tailored HE Day – details to follow.
