A Level Results Success 2018

Congratulations to all our students.

Headteacher Caroline Braggs says: 

“We are extremely proud of the achievements of each of our young women and men which have secured them places at their chosen destinations, whether it be at university, internship or work. These successes continue to demonstrate the diverse range of subjects our students are able to pursue.  With the launch of two new Applied Courses and a new Fashion and Textile Design A Level from September 2018, our sixth form curriculum will offer students even greater choice”.   

Gumley is closing the Engineering gap

We are delighted to witness once again this year, the high percentage of our female students (7%) reading Engineering at University Helping to buck the national trend of women in this sector. Read below to see just some of our students’ amazing accomplishments 

·        Orla Noonan reading Social Anthropology and Sociology at the University of Manchester, Orla gained 3 A*s in English, Government and Politics and Sociology.

·        Katie Costa Welch who achieved 2 A*s in Maths and Further Maths plus an A in Physics, will be studying Engineering at the University of Loughborough.

·        Inderpal Gupta joined Gumley in sixth form, gaining 3 As in Economics, Government and Politics and Geography, he will be reading Geography at the University of Birmingham.

·        Catriona Cheek reading Chinese Studies at the University of Sheffield, she also gained the highest Distinction level in her Mandarin Cambridge Pre U exam.

·        Katie Jones will be reading Architectural Engineering at the University of Sheffield after achieving AAB in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

·        Dilwant Gill, another student new to Gumley’s sixth form, will be reading English at the University of Nottingham having gained AAB.

·        Eleanor Igboanugo with results of A*BB will be studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath.

·        Sabrina Marvulli achieved ABB to read Mathematics at the University of Nottingham

·        Elle Ordona also secured ABB and will be reading Mechanical Engineering at the University of Surrey.

·        Jennifer Field, reading English and Drama at the University of Sussex, having achieved ABB in addition to securing a high grade in her Extended Project Qualification.

·        Paulina Tobola on her Art Foundation placement at Kensington and Chelsea College.
