Students create their own political party

Brexit programme helps students to better understand the political landscape they are part of.

As part of our MFL Curriculum Extension days all of our Year 9 students participated in this ‘Brexit’ programme.

Topics covered included: International relations, the history of the European Union, The British and European economies, Immigration issues as well as general language and cultural considerations.

Working in teams, students had the freedom to debate the issues and were encouraged to form their own views, they were then tasked with creating their own political parties and identifying their chosen manifestos.

Delivered by the organisation ‘Cragrats’, the speakers were very impressed with the maturity of our students and their responses to the issues.

The student presentations were inspiring and thought provoking. These also helped to build their knowledge and confidence in speaking on current affairs.
