SEND
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Gumley House's mission is to ensure that every child grows to be their best self, regardless of their ability. We create a programme aimed at supporting every young person personally and academically - in true response to the words of Jesus (and our motto 'Vive ut Vivas'):
"I have come that you may have life - and have it in all it's fullness"
John 10:10
We work very hard to support all students within the school, particularly those who present with a variety of needs in a mainstream school. We do not have a ‘specialism’ in supporting students with a particular type of need; we support all students’ additional needs on an individual basis. Information regarding our offer for students with SEND or learning difficulties can be found on the documentation which can be downloaded below. These outline the support you should expect for your child.
Contact
Please contact the school SENDCo if you have any questions about special educational needs or disabilities at Gumley House School FCJ.

Admissions
Applications for places at the school are welcomed from all children and we are committed to ensuring fair access to the school for pupils of suitable ability with SEN and disabilities. We will make appropriate adjustments for any candidate with a disability in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, all regulations governing school admissions and with reference to JCQ Guidelines for Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments. There is a process for this and more information can be found on the Admissions pages of this website.
If a student is successful in gaining a place at Gumley House, then you will be invited to a meeting with Mrs Collins in which all supporting documentation is shared. Parents and the student also get a 1:1 tour around the school with one of our Learning Support Team - and they get to meet key staff who will be supporting their child. An Individual Education Plan (IEP) will also be created, by parents, student and SENDCo before joining Gumley House.
