Pathways to Success

Don't dream about success ... work for it!

We offer a choice of different pathways that cover a broad range of academic, creative and vocational subjects. Both pathways allow progression to competitive universities, apprenticeships, or employment. There is also the opportunity, with agreement by the Head of Sixth Form, to re-take GCSE Maths and English Language as well as studying community languages to A Level. Courses are always under review.

A Level Pathway 1: Studying 4 SUBJECTS

To qualify, students must achieve grades 8 and 9 in most subjects studied. This programme is designed for students with high academic achievements and requires full commitment, strong discipline and dedication to their studies.  these students will follow an academic pathway which does not include the EPQ.

A Level Pathway 2:  Studying 3 SUBJECTS

Students on this pathway study three A Levels and also have the opportunity of taking the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) if desired. Students need to meet the appropriate subject grade criteria for each subject.

A Level + BTEC/CTEC/Level 3 Combination

With this creative pathway, students can choose to study a combination of qualifications; either 1 A Level subject alongside 2 BTEC/CTEC subjects, or 2 A Levels with a single BTEC/CTEC.  Alternative Academic Qualifications and Level 3 qualifications may be taken alongside A Level subjects.

Additional Factors:
If either English or Maths is below a GCSE grade 4, students will be required to re-sit these subjects in accordance with government guidelines.
