GCSE Results Increase For The Third Consecutive Year

Cheers could be heard from far and wide as students and staff at Gumley House School FCJ are celebrating their third year of successful GCSE results. The school continues with its track record for personal and academic excellence with 85% of students achieving the ‘gold standard’ of five good (4 or above) GCSE grades including English and Mathematics and an impressive 50 students achieving the coveted 9 grade in Religious Studies. 
As the whole school joins in celebration, 16 subjects achieved 100% 9-4 grades including, Further Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Italian, Chinese and Art & Design.

Overjoyed students and staff cheered and praised each other’s successes and reflected on the environment and ethos they are provided; where high standards and expectations are promoted alongside the exceptional student experience which is made up of countless opportunities to flourish into the confident, well-rounded and informed young adults we know they can become.

There have been several remarkable stand out performances by individual students;

· Angelica is looking forward to studying Maths, Further Maths and Physics at The Sixth alongside taking up a Leadership position following her seven grade 9’s and three grade 8’s. Angelica stated, “I couldn’t have done it without the guidance and support I received from my teachers.”

· A thrilled and delighted Emily who achieved an outstanding set of results with grade 9s in all her subjects (one of only 837 students in England) including Chinese and an A* in Further Maths. Emily’s advice to younger students, “Make really good notes in Year 10 and find yourself a study partner to help with morale and motivation”. She also credits the school with helping her achieve her amazing results with the huge range of opportunities on offer and the creative and enjoyable teaching and learning experience.

· Following a year of major wins competing in beach volleyball competitions and making up the team that won the Northern European Championships, Katie continues her success with a set of excellent results including 9’s in PE and RE and 8’s in Geography, Maths, History and Physics.  She is looking forward to starting her A levels in Biology, Maths and PE before setting off to University in America on a beach volleyball scholarship.

· Staying on to study English, Sociology and Geography at The Sixth is the next step in Holly’s journey, that she hopes will enable her to study Law at Bristol University. This has all been made possible by the incredible preparation, determination and hard work she put in throughout her GCSE studies.

We look forward to welcoming many of our students back as they embark on the next stage of their educational story as they enter The Sixth, here all students will have the opportunity to delve deeper into their academic passions and hone the skills required for their future goals.

20 of our top achievers will also make up the inaugural group to be accepted onto our newly launching Scholars Programme. These students will benefit from an exclusive programme to ensure they are in the best position to progress onto the most prestigious universities and employment.

· Following her eight grade 9’s and three grade 8’s, Alice is incredibly excited to be returning to The Sixth as a Gumley Scholar to continue to pursue her passion for writing whilst challenging herself by undertaking an EPQ and History, Politics and French at A level. Alice wants all younger students to know, “Your results don’t define you, make sure you celebrate your best.”
