‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ - set in Glastonbury!

A Stunning Performance - Shakespeare Schools Festival

The play was chosen, the scene was set, the theatre booked and the cast was ready!

28 students brilliantly showcased their comedic & dramatic skills to the full, delivering an exceptionally entertaining performance of Shakespeare’s famous comedy, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ at Watermans Art Centre Theatre, Brentford.

Their captivating interpretation of Shakespeare’s renowned comedy, transformed the play’s setting to one of the world’s legendary festivals of contemporary performing arts, Glastonbury!

Following 2 terms of intensive study and rehearsals for this year’s Shakespeare Schools Festival, Gumley’s student production took the stage at this professional theatre, on 22nd November 2019.

Congratulations to: All our wonderful performers and also to Ellie & Alice, our fabulous Assistant Directors from Gumley’s Sixth.

2nd Performance Coming Up: At our drama festival, in February 2020, more details to follow!

Shakespeare Schools Festival is the world’s largest youth drama festival and lies at the heart of SSF’s (Shakespeare Schools Foundation) transformative process, encouraging young people to develop confidence and to succeed in life.

Our Drama teaching team ensures it is one of the stars in their calendar each year.

‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, Written by William Shakespeare in 1595, tells the story of the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta (Former queen of the Amazons).

Look out for the tent in the photos, an integral prop in creating Glastonbury’s modern day setting!
