ASPIRATIONAL FUTURES LIE AHEAD FOR STUDENTS AT THE SIXTH

In the face of incredibly challenging circumstances, the strong work ethic and resilience of students at The Sixth, coupled with the support of experienced and dedicated teachers, has seen exceptional successes in this year’s A Level and Vocational results.

These A Level and Vocational grades now provide the springboard to a range of exciting opportunities that lie ahead for our students with some fantastic destinations being achieved; some are off to the top universities across the country, including Oxford, Durham, Bristol Manchester, Birmingham, Exeter and Arizona whilst others are going onto Higher Level Apprenticeships or entering the world of work. We are also pleased that a number of students have successfully secured course places in Teaching, Nursing and Engineering.

As well as the collective success mentioned, we are also very proud of our students as individuals. Behind each and every grade is a personal story of hard work, commitment and perseverance.

Eleanor achieved A* A* A and is ecstatic to accept her place at the University of Oxford to study History and Economics.
Tabitha secured A* A* A B and is going on to study Mathematics at Durham University.
Having gained A* A A B, Christina is looking forward to read Economics and Management at Bristol University.
Liann achieved Distinction* B and has secured a place on PwC’s Flying Start degree programme at Reading University.
After receiving a Distinction* and B, Godfred is heading to the University of Surrey to study Microbiology.
Rose gained an exceptional A* A* A* and is looking forward to her future at Central St Martin’s University of the Arts.
Emer achieved A* A B and will be going on to read Drama and English Literature at Manchester University.
Having gained Distinction3 A B, Grace will be studying Linguistics with Japanese and Chinese at Newcastle University.
Matilde secured an impressive A* A A. She is off to Royal Holloway University to read Film Television and Digital Production.

As well focusing on their A Level and Vocational qualifications, students have taken advantage of the extensive enrichment opportunities that The Sixth has to offer; undertaking the Extended Project Qualification, taking on leadership roles, mentoring younger students, participating in school performances, campaigning for various causes and using their voices for good. They have found interests and passions to last a lifetime; and have developed the skills, confidence and optimism to prosper in higher education, life and the world of work.

Our inspirational students should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved today. They have encountered many obstacles along the way but remained positive in their approach to their studies and committed to achieving the highest standards. The Sixth at Gumley House has come a long way in recent years and we pride ourselves on our academic success and commitment to providing a personalised experience through our pathways and Scholars’ Programme.
